Year 5/6 Girls Match vs. Old Park

This afternoon, our Year 5/6 girls’ football team travelled to Old Park Primary School to play a friendly match. Although it was a very cold day, both teams put in a very combative performance flying in for challenges and putting their bodies in the way to block shots, but it was Old Park who made the breakthrough; scoring a well-worked goal from a corner set piece. Old Park then found their rhythm, started to unleash more shots upon our goal, and won the game 7-0 but it could have been a lot more, if it wasn’t for the bravery of Lily in goal and the rest of our team working well defensively. Our girls can be proud of their performance and are looking forward to their next match.

Well done girls – super effort!

CHAMPIONS!

This afternoon our Year 3&4 athletes travelled to Telford Park School to compete in the Cluster Sportshall Athletics Competition along with three other schools, which were Windmill, Randlay and Grange Park. This event consisted of both track and field events and all children got the chance to participate in at least one of each. Both our boys and girls teams were on fire all afternoon putting in some great performances – our girls’ team won every single track race! At the end of the competition, the results were announced and our outstanding performances were confirmed as both our boys and girls teams finished in first position meaning we won overall too, taking home the Cluster Trophy!

Well done team, you were amazing!

Y3/4 Girls Match

We continued our great rivalry with Grange Park this afternoon with our Y3/4 girls getting a piece of the action in a very entertaining football match. Both teams started the game with great determination and made it a great viewing for the spectators. At the end of the game, Grange Park took the victory with a 6-1 win, with our only goal of the game coming from Freda. All of our girls had a fantastic experience, considering for some of our players it was their first ever football match and they are all looking forward to playing in their next game!

Well done girls, we are all very proud!

Y5/6 Boys Get Underway

There has recently been a lot of Cluster League action for our Year 5&6 girls’ football team but today was the turn for our Year 5&6 boys’ team as they kicked off their campaign against Redhill. We started the game very brightly with some dazzling phases of play but the Redhill goalkeeper was up to the task and kept our attempts out of his goal. All of that soon changed as Leyland sent a great through ball to Harvey who went through one-on-one against the Redhill keeper and this time we came out on top by slotting the ball into the bottom corner, making the score 1-0. After half time, we continued to dominate proceedings without Redhill causing our defence any problems but we just could not get the ball past the opposition keeper, who probably deserved man of the match for his display. The game finished 1-0 with us taking the 3 points, which is a great start for the team.

Well done boys, next match let’s bring our shooting boots!

Year 3&4 Boys Football Match

Our Year 3&4 team took part in a friendly fixture against Redhill Primary School today after school. For all of this team, it was the first time that they had ever played in a football match, so they were all super excited and raring to go! The game began with Redhill being the dominant side but our defence help the opposition attacks off, with Eesa making some fine saves. The effort and desire that our team put in throughout the game was fantastic to see but unfortunately, we lost 6-1 with our goal coming from Norbert.

Well done boys, your attitude and application throughout this game was outstanding!

Y5/6 Girls Match vs. Windmill

Our Year 5&6 girl’s football team were in Cluster League action this evening, this time away at Windmill Primary School, after the draw they achieved in the last game, the girls were desperate to win the match and get 3 points on the board. Both teams started very cautiously but as our girls began to settle down, we began to play some amazing football. Alicia scored our first two goals with her trademark thunder strikes, which most keepers in the world would struggle to save! Paris reacted well in the penalty area to slip the ball past the Windmill goalkeeper to take us into half time with a comfortable 3-0 lead. Windmill began to fight back and scored 2 well worked goals in 2 minutes draw the game back to 3-2 but, but our girls kept their composure and Alicia completed her hat trick with a great finish from inside of the penalty box, which meant the game finished 4-2 and we took the 3 points. We are currently sitting third in the league still climbing up the Cluster Table!

Well done girls – onto the next one!

Dazzling Display From Our Year 3&4 Girls!

It was time for our Year 3&4 girls to play in their first fixture of the year in a friendly football match against Old Park Primary School. Our girls were super excited and ready for this match as they had been working hard all last term focusing on football in PE. From kick off you could see that our girls were the dominant side as we took the lead within the first minute of the game, thanks to a thunderous strike from Alicia. We carried this fine form throughout the match and managed to score another eight goals with Alicia scoring six, Chantel 1, Nadusha 1 and Mia scoring the last. The match finished with a 9-2 victory for our girls, they were so good that we let Old Park play with nine players against our seven! This also shows the remarkable sportsmanship of our teams.

Well done girls, you were unstoppable!

Y5/6 Girls cluster League Action

On the last day of a very busy sporting half term, our Year 5&6 girls’ football team were in cluster league action again against John Fletcher Primary School. Our team started the game on fire going 1-0 up after 5 minutes, as Paris swung in a corner from the right-hand side and a John Fletcher defender fluffed her lines; shanking the ball into her own goal. Five minutes later, we doubled our lead as Paris again broke through the JF defence and rounded their goalkeeper effortlessly, before rolling the ball into an empty goal. John Fletcher began to put us under more pressure in the second half and thanks to two well worked goals, found themselves level at 2-2. Both teams were going for the winner at the end of the game, Georgina made a brilliant save to keep us in the game whilst both Paris and Alicia had great chances to score the winner down the other end but it was not to be as the game finished with a 2-2 draw. We are next in league action against Windmill.

Y5/6 Tag Rugby Tournament

Today we took our Year 5/6 tag rugby team to Telford Hornets Rugby Club to compete in the Telford & Wrekin School Sports Partnership Tournament. There were 20 teams at this event so competition was high to see who could qualify for the next round of the competition. Hollinswood were drawn into Group 3 along with Lawley, Dawley, Randlay, Shortwood and Woodlands and had to finish top for a chance of qualifying. Our first game was against Randlay and we started very well in the competition winning 6-2. Next up we were against Lawley who were very well drilled and came out on top, in a close game, as 3-2 winners. We turned our fortunes around in our next match against Woodlands and cruised to a 5-2 victory but came unstuck in our next fixture with Shortwood as they come out on top with the 4-2 victory. Our final game against Dawley saw us win 5-1 meaning we finished in third position with three wins and two losses. We are all very proud of our team as they showed great character and teamwork throughout the competition and had several comments from other schools about how well they had played.

Well done team!

Year 3/4 Boys Match

Our Year 3/4 football team played in the third mini-series football match with Grange Park today after school. We started the game at a very high tempo by moving the ball around the football pitch with great precision, which then drew the Grange Park players out of position. The gaps that the opposition team left, were filled with our players and lead to goals flowing from an early stage and meant we were leading 5-0 at half time thanks to 4 goals from Kane and one from Harvey. We continued our dominance in the second half of the match and ended up as 10-0 winners thanks to four goals from Alfie and another for Harvey. The team are now looking forward to their next game after half term.
