Huge Girls Cluster Match!

Today after school, our Year 5/6 girls were in Cluster League action again against title challengers Grange Park. This was a highly anticipated game, as we come to the end of the league, whoever won this game would take top spot with just one round of fixtures remaining. The nerves could be felt throughout the first stages of the match as both teams played more on the cautious side but Grange Park had a chance to take the lead as a penalty kick was awarded for a handball inside of our penalty area. Georgina stood up to the task and tipped the penalty over the crossbar to keep the scores level at 0-0. Grange Park broke the deadlock to make it 1-0 after a neat finish from their number 9 and could have doubled their lead after another penalty kick was awarded, but again Georgina came out on top with a fantastic diving save! Grange Park doubled their lead after half time but our girls then began dominating proceedings and clawed a goal back thanks to a long throw from Olivia, which resulted in Paris finishing from close range to make it 2-1. With the last attack of the game, Paris swung in a corner and Ruby connected with the ball sweetly as the ball was destined for the top corner of the goal but a Grange Park defender blocked the shot with her head!

The game finished 2-1 to Grange Park but what a game it was, well done girls!

Mr Griffiths.
